The collection is dedicated to Mariam Dadiani, the queen consort of Kartli in the XVII century, who contributed enormously to the protection of Orthodox Christianity and the revival of Georgian culture. The visual qualities of the gold jewelry draw inspiration from the multicolor attire depicted on the fresco of the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. Specifically, natural coral stone and cold enamel indicate the characteristic shades and floral ornaments of Iranian textile.
Due to her political adroitness and brilliant diplomatic skills, the queen greatly influenced the rule of her husband Rostom Khan. Thanks to her efforts, villages flourished, numerous churches were repaired and important manuscripts (including The Georgian Chronicles) were collected and copied.
